How Fingerboard Wheel Size Impacts Your Setup

1. Pop Angle:
The height of your wheels changes the angle your tail and nose hit the ground. Bigger wheels like our 8.1mm subtly raise your deck, which can make your pop feel steeper and more responsive. Smaller 7.4mm wheels keep things low and snappy—great for tech tricks and tight control. If your kickflips feel “off” after switching wheels, this might be why.

2. Surface Feel:
Skating on dusty benches or gritty concrete ledges? Larger wheels help you cruise over those imperfections. The 8.1mm wheels feel smoother and faster when the surface isn’t perfect, while the 7.4mm gives you more board feel but picks up more texture.

3. Grind Lock-In:
Wheel size affects how your deck locks into grinds. Bigger wheels raise your setup slightly, giving your trucks more bite on rails and ledges. That extra height from 8.1s can help with grinds like feebles and crooks.

Which Size Is Right For You?

Go 7.4mm if you want max board feel, low pop angle, and more technical tricks.

Go 8.1mm if you skate rough spots, want high pop angle, or want a better lock-in on grinds
